Joining GRIT
What is Gathering Residents to Improve Technology (GRIT)?
Code for Canada’s Gathering Residents to Improve Technology (GRIT) Community is a group of people from across Canada who want to improve government and non-profit websites.
As a GRIT participant, you'll be offered paid opportunities to share your feedback with technology creators, researchers and designers to make their work more inclusive, accessible and user-friendly.
How it works:
1. Sign up online.
Fill out our form to start the process.
2. Check your email.
Check your email to confirm your form submission.
3. Join an onboarding call.
Tell us a little about yourself so we can match you with future opportunities.
4. Get invited to participate.
You'll be invited to participate when the right opportunity comes along.
5. Receive compensation.
Once the engagement is complete, you'll be compensated for your time.

Testing process
Get paid to share your opinion
When you participate in a test, you’ll:
- Choose between receiving an e-transfer or a gift card.
- Get paid quickly.
- Schedule sessions when it works for you.
- Keep your personal information confidential.
- Help make digital services easier to use and more accessible.

Participant eligibility
Who can sign up?
Anyone living in Canada can sign up to join GRIT. No experience is necessary! We welcome all perspectives, including people with disabilities, Indigenous people and newcomers to Canada.
To join the GRIT community, you’ll need to:
- Live in Canada full-time
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a strong enough internet connection to hold a video call (e.g. over Zoom)

Privacy policy
How we respect your privacy
We ensure your privacy by:
- Storing your data using SOC2 compliant software, which makes sure your data is stored and processed securely.
- Following the Simpler, Faster, Better Services Act, 2019, S.O. 2019 and the Ontario Digital Service Standard.
- Following the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F. 31.
