We helped retire a risky legacy system

The Nova Scotia Department of Education & Early Childhood needed to retire a legacy digital tool
Educators were relying on a dated website to order essential learning resources like books for their students. The department needed to find a better solution to meet educator’s needs.
We helped find the best possible option and left them with a proven framework for assessing other legacy technology. Using our unique Options Analysis framework, we conducted interviews with key stakeholders to understand their needs across several lenses, including people, process and technology.
After conducting our in-depth assessment, we recommended procuring an off-the-shelf digital tool to replace the legacy website. We left the team with an in-depth report and roadmap for implementing the new tool.
Perhaps most importantly, the Nova Scotia Department of Cyber Security and Digital Solutions can now use our Options Analysis framework to assess other legacy technologies. This will let them update their existing systems more efficiently, ensuring a reduced risk of service failure and better service delivery to people across the province.
