We helped with a major federal digital transformation

The Global Affairs Canada Grants & Contributions team wanted to rapidly increase the speed of aid delivery to foreign partners
Currently, there is no public-facing digital portal for foreign aid agencies to obtain information about Canadian aid grants, submit their grant applications, or ask questions about the application process. The current wait time for transfer payments to aid agencies is 22 months, while the need for international aid only continues to grow.
We brought in a skilled team of technologists to work with GAC staff to build a new multi-sided digital platform with the goal of reducing the average processing time for transfer payments from 22 months to just 10 weeks.
The goal is to completely modernize the existing Grants and Contributions system, including creating a dedicated portal integrated across GAC departments and fully interoperable with other relevant ministries.
This is a massive undertaking and our largest project to date. Seven Code for Canada team members are currently working shoulder-to-shoulder with GAC staff to realize this vision. To date, we’ve successfully delivered a product roadmap and conducted agile training with GAC staff to help introduce a prototyping culture.
We’re looking forward to another year of this important work, which has the ability to improve lives around the world.
